SMK Unveils e-Mobility Chargers and Battery Packs
Electric two-wheelers and electric bicycles, among other e-mobility batteries, can be charged using replaceable batteries, eliminating the need for waiting times at battery exchange charging facilities. Additionally, these batteries can be used as small energy storage systems (ESS: Energy Storage System) for outdoor activities such as camping when needed.
In response, SMK, an eco-solution company specializing in the manufacture of e-mobility chargers and battery packs, led by CEO Kim Yoon-jae, participated in 'InterBattery 2023' held at COEX from March 15 to 17, showcasing various charger products and battery pack products related to e-mobility.
SMK, a developer of battery packs equipped with Samsung SDI battery cells and a developer of Battery Management Systems (BMS), launched the country's first domestic exchangeable battery charging facility (BSS, Battery Swap System) in the market in 2019.
Contact charging products are multi-connector charging products capable of charging various e-mobility products such as electric kickboards and electric two-wheelers, allowing simultaneous charging of up to four e-mobility products. Furthermore, they have significantly reduced waiting times for full charging based on a rapid charging system. SMK's battery packs and charging products can be custom-made according to the demands and requirements of bike manufacturers and others.
Recently, the government is actively promoting the electrification of transportation means to increase the use of electric two-wheelers in delivery services and reduce carbon dioxide. National standard regulations for product standardization are also being prepared. At the end of last December, the National Institute of Technology Standards announced the establishment of four KS standards for exchangeable battery packs.
The Ministry of Environment also plans to convert all two-wheelers sold domestically to electric by 2030 and is providing purchase subsidies. The subsidy for chargers to expand charging facilities is also increasing every year.
SMK CEO Kim Yoon-jae said, "With the rapid growth of the e-mobility industry, SMK will become a leading company leading the market by building not only batteries and chargers but also an integrated e-mobility system," and added, "We are making our potential known through the InterBattery event we participate in every year."
