SMK Pursues Solar Mobility Charging Station Project in Saudi Arabia
Participation in 'Vision 2030 Sports Boulevard' Urban Planning Project
SMK, a South Korean energy solutions company, announced on the 17th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Al-Qasem Establishment, a Saudi energy company, in
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to jointly promote a solar mobility charging station project. This is seen as an important step for Saudi Arabia to reduce the country's oil dependence and promote a
diversified power supply through a renewable energy program.
SMK is an energy solution supplier based on the battery and charger business, providing sustainable energy solutions domestically and abroad through solar power and battery ESS technology. According to the agreement, SMK will participate in Saudi Arabia's 'Vision 2030 Sports Boulevard' urban planning project with Al-Qasem Establishment. This plan is a large-scale project that will
create 50 different spaces in Riyadh City, covering a total length of 135km and an area of 4.4 million square meters. Both companies will install solar mobility charging stations and jointly promote
the construction of battery factories in the industrial areas of Riyadh City through this project.
An SMK official said through this agreement, "Starting with the solar mobility charging station project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, we will promote various projects such as solar PV projects, and will lead the diversification of electricity." This project refers to a new concept of charging station that uses solar panels and energy storage devices as a multi-charging station for electric cars and
two-wheelers, and the Saudi government has shown great interest in such eco-friendly energy businesses.
