[Driving Growth in Gyeonggi Province: Promising SME] SMK Co., Ltd.

SMK Co., Ltd, led by CEO Kim Yoon-jae, is a specialized company providing eco-friendly energy solutions, building upon 15 years of experience and technological accumulation since its establishment in 2009. As a leading domestic manufacturer in the battery pack and E-mobility charging facility sectors using secondary batteries, SMK ensures a stable supply of raw materials from major domestic battery cell manufacturers, producing high-quality battery packs in their local factory. Furthermore, SMK boasts high-end development capabilities, bolstered by technological collaboration with national institutions.

Moreover, SMK is actively pursuing international ventures based on its eco-friendly energy solution system, notably in countries like Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. In recognition of its product's competitive edge, SMK was selected as a promising SME by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion. The company's strengths lie in manufacturing high-quality battery packs and offering sustainable energy solutions utilizing solar power and ESS (Energy Storage System) technology. With the support of the Ministry of Environment, they have collaborated with delivery platform companies to install over 100 charging facilities in areas including Seoul, Chuncheon, and Jeju, with plans to establish more than 400 facilities next year.

In 2010, in collaboration with LH Corporation, SMK developed and now operates an E-mobility charging facility integrated with solar power and an Energy Storage System (ESS) for the 3rd new city in the LH Asan demonstration complex. They are also working on a project to develop communication equipment technology for IoET (Extreme Internet of Things), targeting actual technological verification at the Jang Bogo Antarctic Base next year. The battery pack for the Jang Bogo Antarctic Base incorporates thermal management technology and a vacuum-structured battery module design, enabling the battery pack to operate even in extreme conditions of minus 50 degrees Celsius.

Recently, SMK's affiliate, Bee mobility Co., Ltd., began the construction of an advanced 'Battery Pack Smart Factory' in Gunsan. This smart factory will introduce automated battery production equipment and aims to produce 80,000 two-wheeled vehicle drive-type battery packs and 5,000 replaceable battery chargers annually using Samsung SDI's lithium-ion battery cells. CEO Kim Yoon-jae of SMK stated, "SMK has established a roadmap spanning mobility, robots, and UAM sectors, positioning ourselves as an ESG management company pioneering innovation in the eco-friendly energy domain." He further emphasized, "With our high-quality products as the foundation, we are committed to leading in energy diversification and environmental protection."
