"SMK Launches Battery Replacement Platform 'Bee Station' for e-Mobility"

SMK has released a docked charging station that allows for battery swapping in electric vehicles, electric scooters, and other e-mobility devices, aiming to capture the e-mobility

market.

SMK (led by CEO Kim Dohyung) announced on the 23rd that they have launched their own brand 'Bee (Bettery Easy Energy)' and introduced a shared battery station called 'Bee

Station.'

Bee Station is a platform composed of a basic 8-cell battery pack, allowing for immediate battery replacement without any charging wait time. It can be easily installed and

expanded as it utilizes the standard AC220V power source.

The battery pack applied in Bee Station is equipped with the company's own Battery Management System (BMS) and Samsung SDI battery cells. The BMS has been developed in

various specifications, and the packaging incorporates special structures and materials to prevent fire or explosion hazards.

For charging, Bee Station adopts a parallel charger configuration where one charger corresponds to one battery pack. This enables flexible adjustment of the number of modules

installed in the charging station.

SMK plans to utilize the Bee Station platform not only for e-mobility devices such as electric bicycles and electric scooters but also for energy-sharing businesses focused on

small-scale energy storage systems (ESS). They particularly expect to increase the utilization rate through fast circulation, as the use of electric bikes for delivery services is

increasing.

To meet domestic and international demand, SMK plans to establish branches in countries including Hungary, Vietnam, and Germany, in addition to South Korea, to create

customized batteries and charging stations. In Thailand, they have already initiated discussions with gas station operators regarding station sites and related business agreements.

An SMK representative stated, "We received positive responses from domestic and international buyers, including India, Indonesia, and Thailand when we showcased our

products at the 'InterBattery 2019' exhibition." They added, "We plan to proceed with the Bee Station platform business in full swing."
